How Legends are Made
M.A.M.M. (Melissa Anderson Made in Muscatine) cookies are the next generation of the world famous D.A.M.M. cookies made by Denny Anderson. Many moons ago, Denny would make his chocolate chip cookies for his sister, Janet Vorwerk-Giloy in Colorado. Every time she would go to the freezer to warm one up, she would mumble, “Those damn cookies…” and a legend was born.
As all legends go, no one really remembers when or where damn cookies became D.A.M.M. cookies, but now people across the world know Denny Anderson’s Made in Muscatine cookies. For many years, Denny would make his cookies for everyone in his life: his family, friends, coworkers, and pretty much anyone that asked. They even became currency for his granddaughter Ainsley’s care team at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital with physicians jokingly threatening to withhold treatment until they got their cookies! Through those years, we all learned what a little sugar, a big dollop of butter and a lot of love can do.

Many would ask the secret to his cookies, but he would never let it slip. Fortunately, as Denny fought a 5 year battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed along his secrets to his daughter-in-law, Melissa. Wanting to make sure the secret was always safe, it is held by two others who shall remain nameless for their protection. One thing Denny was always adamant about was that the cookies only be used for good, so Melissa is continuing to make the world a happier, nicer place one cookie at a time.
